Installing Stremio Catalog Providers with Docker Compose
This documentation will guide you through the process of installing the Stremio Catalog Providers addon using Docker Compose.
Prerequisites
Make sure you have met all the installation prerequisites before starting.
Important
Verify that you have obtained all the necessary API Keys before beginning the installation.
Installation Steps
1. Creating the Installation Folder
Create a new folder for the addon installation:
Tip
Choose an easily accessible location for your installation folder.
2. Creating the Database
Run the following command to create the database needed for the addon:
docker exec -e PGPASSWORD=stremio stremio-postgres psql -U stremio -d postgres -c "CREATE DATABASE \"stremio-catalog-db\";"
Note
Make sure the Stremio PostgreSQL container is running before executing this command.
3. Creating the docker-compose.yml File
Create a docker-compose.yml
file in the installation folder and copy the following content:
---
networks:
proxy_network:
external: true
# Create the DB first : docker exec -e PGPASSWORD=stremio stremio-postgres psql -U stremio -d postgres -c "CREATE DATABASE \"stremio-catalog-db\";"

Tip
Verify that the path to the catalogs-compose.yml file is correct in your project structure.
4. Creating the .env File

Creating the Trakt.tv Application
To obtain the TRAKT_CLIENT_ID
and TRAKT_CLIENT_SECRET
credentials, you need to create an application on Trakt.tv. Here's how to proceed:
- Create an account on Trakt.tv if you don't already have one.
- Go to the applications section: https://trakt.tv/oauth/applications.
- Create a new application by filling in the required information (name, description, etc.).
- For the redirect URL, use the following format:
BASE_URL + /callback
For example, if yourBASE_URL
ishttps://catalogs.example.com
, the redirect URL will behttps://catalogs.example.com/callback
. - Once the application is created, you will obtain the
TRAKT_CLIENT_ID
andTRAKT_CLIENT_SECRET
necessary to configure the addon.
Remember to keep this information confidential and not share it publicly.
6. Launching the Installation
Run the following command to start the installation:
Tip
Use the -d
option to run the containers in the background.

-
Remove the database from the PostgreSQL container:
-
Remove the installation folder:
